Romanian citizenship can be granted to persons who have lost their Romanian citizenship for reasons not imputable to them, as well as to their descendants up to the second degree and who apply for regaining it.

The file is submitted in person by the petitioner to the National Authority for Citizenship by prior appointment or to the Romanian consular mission.
